Volunteers

Portrait of a Volunteer...
Brian Babish
On July 29, 2010, Lodge Member Brian Babish
was working as a kitchen volunteer. He was
making meatloaf for the Lodge’s “Fifth Friday
Surprise Dinner”. Just another volunteer you say?
A year ago Brian was in our prayers every day.
His name was mentioned at every meeting during
the call for “Sickness and Distress.” His heart was
rapidly deteriorating and all members anxiously
waited for the news that a new one had been located. On July 29, 2009, his
wife Deana informed the Lodge that our member’s prayers had been
answered - a new heart had been located. The gift of an organ donor could
now extend Brian’s life. Recovery has been a long and winding road, but
he now knows he will see his children grow. He will have more days to love
his wife and more time to make meatloaf for the Lodge. Brian chose to
spend the anniversary of his new found health volunteering in the kitchen.
Let’s all consider updating our drivers license with the caption, “Organ
Donor”. The life you save may be another Elk member. Also, look for the
date and time of the next Lodge sponsored “Blood Drive.”

HELP WANTED

Your bulletin staff is in need of 2 or 3 men/women helpers to label the bulletins (at the Lodge) and take them to the Mission Viejo Post Office, one day a month. An easy but very important job that takes about 2 hours. (Usually around the 20th or 22th of the month.) Must be able to lift 25 to 30 pound loaded bulletin bins. The pay is lousy ($00.00) but our gratitude will be overwhelming, and we double your salary every six months!

A second opportunity is open for a computer savvy person to assist our Web Master, Leo Hazell in working with the Lodge Web Site. The award winning Site needs a little maintenance from time to time to keep it updated and looking sharp. Same lousy pay as above, but a great service to the Lodge, and fun too. Contact lfhazell@gmail.com

Can you help? These are great jobs for a person who would like to contribute something to the Lodge effort, but has a limited amount of time to devote. Call Andy Costello (949) 770-5796
